Professors and doctoral students of the School of International Law at the Graduate Symposium “Borders and Space in International Law” in Kaliningrad
As part of the symposium, doctoral students whose abstracts had been preliminarily selected by the programme committee had the opportunity to discuss individual chapters of their dissertations and other research projects with colleagues and leading experts in international law. The participants presented the results of their research and received detailed comments and recommendations for further revision of their academic work. The symposium became an important platform for introducing young researchers into the professional academic community and for testing the results of their scholarly activity.
The symposium opened with an introductory lecture “Divide et impera: international human rights law in the age of digitalisation”, delivered by Vera Rusinova, Doctor of Law, Professor, and Head of the School of International Law at the Faculty of Law. She also served as moderator of the section “Digital Spaces and Algorithmic Borders” and as reviewer of a number of participants’ academic papers.
Among the symposium discussants were also professors from the School of International Law at the Faculty of Law of the Higher School of Economics: Vladimir Talanov and Alexey Petrenko.
From the Faculty of Law of the Higher School of Economics, the following doctoral students delivered presentations:
- Anastasia Vladimirovna Burnakina, on “Instruments of International Trade Law in Overcoming Digital Inequality”;
- Philipp Vadimovich Luchkin, on “Subjective Rights and the Territorial Scope of Human Rights.”
Doctoral students and teachers of the Higher School of Economics express their gratitude to the symposium organisers for the high level of organisation and for creating a space for professional scholarly dialogue. The Third Graduate Symposium on International Law is already scheduled for May 2027 and is expected to take place in Yekaterinburg.
