The Faculty of Law was one of the first faculties created in the Higher School of Economics. Economic and legal disciplines, new innovative courses, fundamental law disciplines and narrowly specialized courses are all equally important for the Faculty of Law. The Faculty's strength is the curriculum's focus on the practical, which perpares its graduates to successfully meet the demands of the labour market.
The HSE Faculty of Law actively develops international cooperation.
Faculty of Law has signed partnership agreements on student mobility and joint research with more than 50 foreign universities - on university-wide level as well as on the faculty-level.
In 2012, the HSE Faculty of Law became one of the founders of Law Schools Global League, which includes more than 25 universities from all continents. Among the strategic objectives of the League are opportunities for student mobility and admission to master's and PhD programs.
The HSE Faculty of Law annually organizes many international conferences, round tables, workshops, research seminars and open lectures with participation of guest professors and international experts from leading foreign universities. In 2016 the following world-class professors visited Faculty of Law: Director of the Max Planck Institute for foreign and international civil law (Hamburg) Jurgen Basedow; Professor at the University of Leiden Beryl Ter Haar; Professor of Boston Law College David Wirth; a well-known expert in international law, Professor of the University of Helsinki Martti Koskenniemi; Dean of the Faculty of law of the University of Helsinki Kimmo Nuotio; professor of Manchester University Christopher Thornhill; Harvard University Professor Robert Z. Lawrence; Professor of Vienna University and the Vienna Diplomatic Academy of Friedl Weiss and some others.
The HSE Faculty of Law in 2016-2017 organized the following international conferences: "New trends in the regulation of banking and financial markets in the EU and Russia","Labour legislation and its role in modern economic conditions", "Judicial power in modern conditions of formation of legal state", "The Role of education and research in the field of human rights in the promotion of Council of Europe standards", “Securities in Russian Law in the Context of European Law Tradition”, “Actual problems of development of corporate law in the post-Soviet space”.
The HSE Faculty of Law actively cooperates in the field of international student mobility, both incoming and outgoing.
Exchange students do not pay tuition to the host University (unless otherwise specified by the exchange agreement). Moreover, in some cases (in the framework of the Erasmus+ programme, a separate inter-faculty agreements) it is possible to get a scholarship.
The main criteria for participation in exchange programs are excellent academic achievements and good knowledge of foreign languages. Selection criteria at the University level may be found at studyabroad.hse.ru.
Students should prepare the following documents:
1. Passport valid for 6 months after the end of the study period.
2. Application form.
3. Individual Study Plan.
4. A certificate confirming knowledge of a foreign language.
5. An official transcript of records from your university studies.
6. Recommendation, if required by the program.
7. CV in English.
8. Motivation letter in English.

Undergraduate students can spend a semester at a foreign University as a free moover. In this case, all the conditions of learning are determined for each student individually.
