In the final round, the Faculty of Law students defeated the team from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil).
The rounds were presided over by arbitrators from Russia, Turkey, the USA, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Bahrain, and other jurisdictions.
The participants express their gratitude to the Pre-Moot organizers and the team’s sponsors. This year, the sponsors for the preliminary stages are the law firms NAVICUS.LAW, ALUMNI Partners, FIDEM Research Group, KIAP, and Saveliev, Batanov & Partners. The sponsor for the main rounds in Hong Kong is the law firm Ivanyan and Partners.
Last week was marked not only by the victory at the Moscow Pre-Moot but also by participation in the 16th Annual Middle East Willem C. Vis Pre-Moot in Bahrain. The event was organized by the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution and hosted by the Royal University for Women. 18 teams from 14 countries took part in this Pre-Moot. Following the general rounds, the HSE University students advanced to the quarter-finals, where they faced Saint Joseph University of Beirut (Lebanon), the eventual winner of the competition. The students also received the “Best Claimant Memorandum” award and secured second place for the “Best Respondent Memorandum.”
The Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot was established in Vienna in 1994, and since 2004, it has also been held in Hong Kong (Vis East). Each year, students from over 300 universities and 70 countries participate in the competition.
The first stage of the competition involves drafting a Memorandum for Claimant and a Memorandum for Respondent, while the second stage focuses on oral arguments. Before participating in the final rounds, contestants test their skills in training rounds known as Pre-Moots.
