Working Group on AI and Law

Overview

Artificial intelligence (AI) comprises a set of diverse technologies that are increasingly being used, bringing about profound economic and social changes. Like any new technology, it presents risks and opportunities. In many countries, multidisciplinary AI centers have already been created to advance in various areas, such as health, education, industry, national defense, and the environment. To ensure that AI development is sustainable in the long term and guided by human values, it is necessary to encourage the training of students and researchers with the necessary qualifications, who are capable of contributing to responsible technological advancement, proposing innovative solutions, and critically analyzing potential products or services created by companies.

It is in this context that the BRICS consortium initiative fits in, as a way of training professionals from these countries to face the new challenges brought by AI.
