The HSE team advanced to 1/8 of Global Rounds of the FDI Moot in Lucknow!

This year, HSE Team comprised of students and research assistants of the Law Faculty reached the 1/8 of Global Rounds of the Foreign Direct Investment Moot Court (“FDI Moot”), the most prestigious competition in the field of international investment arbitration. More than 150 teams from around the world participate in the FDI Moot annually. This year’s competition was held in Lucknow, India.

The HSE team advanced to 1/8 of Global Rounds of the FDI Moot in Lucknow!

Before the Global Rounds, the team won the pre-moot organized by the FDI Moot Alumni Association and Moot Memoirs, surpassing 15 other teams from India, Argentina, Singapore, Vietnam, and China.

During the Global Rounds, the team consisting of HSE students faced formidable competitors from various countries, including India, Singapore, and Poland. 

The team had a prolific season:

·         the team reached the round of 16 in the Global Rounds; and

·         two team members - Victoria Polshakova and Dilzhan Baktybekova - were ranked among the Best Advocates in the Global Rounds.

The faculty of law team was represented by Victoria Polshakova (Research assistant of the Laboratory of International Justice of HSE; 2nd year master’s student in Law of International Trade and Dispute Resolution); Polina Ostranitsa (1st year master’s in Law of International Trade and Dispute Resolution); Pham Khanh Bao Trung (2nd year master’s in Law of International Trade and Dispute Resolution); Vladislav Chesnokov (1st year master’s in Law of International Trade and Dispute Resolution) and students of Bachelor’s programme in Law Arina Medvedeva and Dilzhan Baktybekova.

The team was coached by Elena Murashko (Rybalkin, Gortsunyan, Dyakin and Partners), Nikita Sinitsin (EPAM Law Offices), Konstantin Ksenofontov (Squire Patton Boggs), Maria Antonova (Kovalev, Tugushi & Partners), Daniil Vlasenko (Schellenberg Wittmer) and Dmitrii Shchetinin (LLM student at Utrecht University).
