Round table "Russian anti-sanctions regulation"
On December 16, 2023, the National Research University Higher School of Economics (hereinafter - “HSE”) hosted a discussion of topical issues of anti-sanctions regulation, which was attended by leading experts in the field.
In particular, Ivan Timofeev, Cand.scient.pol, Associate Professor of the Department of Political Theory at MGIMO, Director General of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), spoke about the main trends in sanctions policy against Russia and possible ways of counteraction.
Denis Primakov, PhD in Law, Head of Sanctions Law and Compliance at KIAP Law Firm, shared his vision of the prospects for the development of dispute resolution procedures of Russian sanctions legislation.
Elena Mokhova, PhD in Law, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, HSE, spoke about transformation of jurisdictional limits of Russian courts in connection with restrictive measures.
Tatiana Neveeva, Senior Partner at VERBA Legal, attorney-at-law, Moscow Bar Association’s member, shared her practical experience in resolving disputes with a sanctioned element in international commercial arbitration.
Alexander Savelyev, PhD in Law, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, HSE, Deputy Chairman of the Commission for Legal Support of the Digital Economy at the Moscow Branch of the Russian Bar Association, spoke about the impact of sanctions on the circulation and use of foreign software in the Russian Federation.
Representatives of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation also took part in the discussion of current problems of Russian sanctions regulation, Evgeny Bulatov, Head of the International Treaties Division of the Department of International Law and Cooperation, and his deputy Alexander Lashch; Zhanna Sedova, PhD in Law, Associate Professor at the Department of International Law of the Russian State University of Justice, Deputy General Director - Director for Legal Affairs and Corporate Relations of PJSC "EL5-Energo", and others.
