Education

The School participates in the realisation of educational programs at all levels of higher education in the field of the 'Law' programme in the disciplines belonging to their subject areas. The School consists of the well-known scientists-professors and associate professors, doctors and candidates of sciences (Ph.D.), including those who have extensive practical experience in higher courts (Prof. T.G. Morshakova, associate professor T.V. Sokolov), in the prosecutor's office (associate professor L.A. Prokudina), justice agencies (associate Professor E.V. Egorova, associate professor D.I. Smolnikov), in the office of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation (associate professor V.K. Mikhailov), in the bar (associate professor L.N. Bardin, associate professor R.O. Dolotov, associate professor D.I. Krymsky), in  notary (associate professor N.V. Suchkova) or mediation (associate Professor L.M. Karnozova). Many of The Department's young lecturers (for example, associate professors D.I. Krymsky, M.S. Pavlova, and D.I. Smolnikov) are graduates of the master's or post-graduate programs at HSE. The School 's lecturers have a long-term and rich teaching experience, actively use modern educational technologies and interactive methods of practice-oriented learning, and therefore are very popular among students of the HSE Faculty of Law, who choose them as scientific supervisors of their course, final qualification works and of Ph.D. theses. Many lecturers of the School are regularly awarded the status of 'Best teacher' based on the results of the annual student voting.

At the undergraduate level, the School provides teaching of subjects of fundamental importance in the training of lawyers — criminal law (general and special parts), the introductory course 'Judicial Power and Law Enforcement', as well as all courses of procedural law (criminal procedure, civil, commercial and administrative procedure). This set of mandatory disciplines is supplemented by a number of elective courses, research seminars and workshops that provide narrowly focused specialised training for future lawyers in these areas.

At the master's level, the School independently implements the educational program 'Lawyer in Justice and Law Enforcement' and participates in the implementation of the master's program 'Lawyer in Civil and Criminal cases'.

At the postgraduate level, the School participates in the training of post-graduate students of the HSE Doctoral School of Law studying in the field of 'Law' and reparing Ph.D. theses in such fields of study as 12.00.08 – 'Criminal Law and Criminology; Criminal and Penal Enforcement Law', 12.00.11 — 'Judiciary, State Attorney Service, Human Rights and Law-Enforcement’ and 12.00.15 – 'Civil Procedure; Commercial Procedure'.

In the 2020/2021 academic year, as part of the development of project work at HSE, the School is launching two projects for students of the master's program 'Lawyer in Justice and Law Enforcement': the educational project 'Standards and Precedents of Lawyer's Practice (lawyer's workshop)' aimed at developing practical skills of lawyers, and the research project 'Grounds and Procedures for Disciplinary Responsibility of Judges in Russia: Quantitative and Qualitative Characteristics'.
