PhD Student of the School of Private Law, A.S. Akuzhinov, Successfully Defends His PhD Dissertation

On 30 June 2026, Alexey Serykovich Akuzhinov, a PhD student at the School of Private Law, successfully defended his dissertation entitled "Disgorgement of Profits in Russian and English Law: A Comparative Legal Study." The dissertation was supervised by Anton A. Ivanov, Professor at the School of Private Law and Academic Supervisor of the HSE Faculty of Law.

Intellectual Property Club Holds Meeting on the Protection of Foreign Trademark Owners in Russia

On 24 June, the Intellectual Property Club, "Intellectual Property: Mine or Someone Else's?", held a meeting devoted to the topic "Protection of Foreign Trademark Owners in the Russian Intellectual Property Market."The event brought together legal practitioners, academics, Master's and PhD students, as well as undergraduate students. During the discussion, participants examined the legal framework governing trademarks owned by foreign right holders conducting business in the Russian Federation. Particular attention was paid to current approaches and emerging trends in protecting the rights of foreign trademark owners under the present legal and economic conditions. The meeting concluded with a discussion of possible approaches to safeguarding the legal status of trademarks owned by entities based in countries designated by Russia as "unfriendly states" while continuing to conduct business in the Russian market.

Professor Alexander A. Vishnevsky, Doctor of Law and Professor at the HSE School of Private Law, participated as an expert in the panel discussion "Digital Financial Markets: Who Will Protect the Consumer?", held as part of the 14th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.

PhD Student of the School of Private Law, M.I. Klementyeva, Successfully Defends Her PhD Dissertation

Margarita I. Klementyeva, a PhD student at the HSE School of Private Law, has successfully defended her dissertation entitled "Civil Liability of Experts to Third Parties for Providing Misleading Expert Opinions in Russian and Comparative Law." The dissertation was supervised by Andrey A. Gromov, Associate Professor at the HSE School of Private Law.

School of Private Law Hosts Intellectual Property Club Masterclass on Public Speaking

On 19 May, the HSE School of Private Law hosted another meeting of the Intellectual Property Club, "Intellectual Property: Mine or Someone Else's?", held in the format of a masterclass. The session, entitled "Public Speaking: How to Make Sure You Are Heard," was organized by Valentina Sinelnikova, Doctor of Law, Professor at the HSE School of Private Law, and member of the Scientific Advisory Councils of the Intellectual Property Court and the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. The masterclass was moderated by Edita Tibilova, an expert at the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO, member of the Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation, and author of the educational programme Public Speaking and Effective Communication.

School of Private Law Hosts Meeting of the Private Law Club

On 23 April, the HSE School of Private Law held a meeting of the Private Law Club in a new discussion format dedicated to contemporary issues in tort law explored in students' research projects.

Round Table on Digital Assets: Legal Regulation and Practical Challenges

On 5 March, the HSE School of Private Law and Novosibirsk State University jointly hosted a round table entitled "Digital Assets: Challenges and Prospects for Legal Regulation and Practical Application." The event was co-moderated by Alexey Volos, Associate Professor at the HSE School of Private Law, and Elizaveta Zaynutdinova, Associate Professor at Novosibirsk State University. The round table brought together representatives of academia, business, and the Bank of Russia to discuss a wide range of issues relating to digital assets, including their legal nature and classification, the use of digital assets in cross-border payments, their transferability, and the challenges of integrating various forms of digital assets into economic circulation.
