On September 25, 2026, Vasil E. Shaikhraziev successfully defended his dissertation entitled “The Relationship Between the Claims of a Pledgee and Unsecured Creditors in the Pledgor’s Bankruptcy Proceedings,” submitted for the degree of Candidate of Legal Sciences. The dissertation was supervised by K.A. Novikov, Candidate of Legal Sciences.

The speaker was Aram Grigoryan, attorney and partner at the law firm Nektorov, Saveliev & Partners (NSP).

During his lectures, Alexander Kuznetsov discussed contemporary corporate law, including the decline and revival of the civil law tradition as illustrated by commercial companies.

The meeting focused on “The Burden of Generosity: Why Free Masterpieces Cost Museums Dearly.” The event was organized by the Department of Private Law at the HSE University Faculty of Law, represented by Valentina Sinelnikova, Doctor of Legal Sciences, Professor at the Department of Private Law, and a member of the Scientific Advisory Councils of the Intellectual Property Court and the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation.

The results of the 11th RAA Competition, hosted at the offices of Melling, Voitishkin & Partners and ALRUD, have been announced!HSE University’s Team No. 39 took first place in the Best Team category. The team members were Alisa Sorokina, Varvara Ivanova, Elizaveta Lapshina, Maria Ushaeva, and Maria Perova. The team was coached by Alexey Akuzhinov and Ilya Evseev.Many other HSE University participants and teams also received recognition in both team and individual categories.

From July 27 to August 1, the Federal University of Minas Gerais hosted the BRICS Legal Studies Summer School in Belo Horizonte (Brazil). The event brought together professors, postgraduate students, and students from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, the UAE, and other countries. The 2026 program focused on in-depth study of the founding BRICS states legal systems: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

The award ceremony for the winners of the Student Term Paper Competition, jointly organized by ConsultantPlus and the HSE School of Private Law, has taken place. Following the evaluation of the submitted papers, the faculty competition committee approved the list of winners and prize recipients presented below. The organizers sincerely thank all students for their submissions and wish them continued success in their academic and research activities.

On 30 June 2026, Alexey Serykovich Akuzhinov, a PhD student at the School of Private Law, successfully defended his dissertation entitled "Disgorgement of Profits in Russian and English Law: A Comparative Legal Study." The dissertation was supervised by Anton A. Ivanov, Professor at the School of Private Law and Academic Supervisor of the HSE Faculty of Law.

On 24 June, the Intellectual Property Club, "Intellectual Property: Mine or Someone Else's?", held a meeting devoted to the topic "Protection of Foreign Trademark Owners in the Russian Intellectual Property Market."The event brought together legal practitioners, academics, Master's and PhD students, as well as undergraduate students. During the discussion, participants examined the legal framework governing trademarks owned by foreign right holders conducting business in the Russian Federation. Particular attention was paid to current approaches and emerging trends in protecting the rights of foreign trademark owners under the present legal and economic conditions. The meeting concluded with a discussion of possible approaches to safeguarding the legal status of trademarks owned by entities based in countries designated by Russia as "unfriendly states" while continuing to conduct business in the Russian market.

Professor Alexander A. Vishnevsky, Doctor of Law and Professor at the HSE School of Private Law, participated as an expert in the panel discussion "Digital Financial Markets: Who Will Protect the Consumer?", held as part of the 14th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
