long‑term project
On the basis of a study of the legal mechanisms of modern integration associations, to develop proposals for enhancing the effectiveness of the activities of the EAEU and other international structures with the participation of the Russian Federation in the Eurasian space and of the tasks they perform in the interests of their members.
Comprehensive deepening of ties and coordination with friendly sovereign global centres of power and development located on the Eurasian continent, which are committed to approaches that fundamentally coincide with the Russian approaches to the future world order and to addressing key issues of world politics, is of particularly important significance for achieving the strategic goals and implementing the main tasks of the foreign policy of the Russian Federation.
Russia seeks to transform Eurasia into a single continent‑wide space of peace, stability, mutual trust, development and prosperity. Achieving this goal presupposes the formation of a broad integration framework – the Greater Eurasian Partnership – by pooling the potentials of all states, regional organizations and associations of Eurasia on the basis of the EAEU, the SCO and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), aligning the development plans of the EAEU and China’s Belt and Road Initiative, while preserving the possibility for all interested states and multilateral associations of the Eurasian continent to participate in this partnership and, consequently, forming a network of partner organizations in Eurasia. Accordingly, an effective legal framework must also be formed, the study of whose current state and the elaboration of avenues for its further development should be the focus of efforts by scholars, including university faculty and students. In our view, primary attention should be paid to the EAEU and the SCO as key integration structures in the Eurasian space where the Russian Federation engages in active international cooperation in a wide range of areas. At the same time, it is important to take into account the experience of other integration associations operating in various regions of the world.
