The section discussed various aspects of human rights compliance by companies, problems of implementation of ESG standards, trends in the development of international investment law, as well as corporate law.
Andrey Lunev, Lecturer at the International Law Department of the V. F. Yakovlev Ural State Law University, presented an overview of such a trend in international law as the extension of human rights to companies. Matvey Tarasov, a postgraduate student of the Postgraduate School of Law of the National Research University Higher School of Economics and a junior lawyer of Rybalkin, Gortsunyan, Dyakin & Partners, analyzed the trends in the development of investment law norms with regard to the formation of bilateral investment treaties of the second generation. Daria Ulanova, a lawyer of SGS Group LLC, prepared a report on various aspects of holding transnational corporations liable for human rights violations at the national level. Vadim Gabrielov, a postgraduate student of the Postgraduate School of Law of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, spoke about the spread of ESG standards in the corporate sphere and the impact of compliance on the financial efficiency of companies. Emil Sayfullin, Chairman of the Council of Young Scholars of the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law, presented a report on human rights in the context of private military and security companies.
