In the current issue of the journal, we are pleased to offer readers the second article on the legal heritage of André Mandelstam. In the section ‘Theoretical Inquires’ a study on the tendencies of anthropomorphization of corporations in international law is published. The section ‘Topical Issues’ is represented by two materials: on the obligation not to litigate in international and national law, as well as on the history and current state of the legal regulation of collective actions in the European Union. Readers can also familiarise themselves with a study on increasing the effectiveness of international law, carried out at the interface between international law and related disciplines (economics, sociology, criminology). Practitioners might find interest in the article on the causes of action for holding parent companies liable for human rights violations in national courts.

Authors and articles of the issue:

  • Ksenia Shestakova, Polina Yataeva, Varvara Avdeeva and Vyacheslav Suponin. The Emerging International Legal Protection of Human Rights in the Interwar Period: the Life and Ideas of André Mandelstam. Part 2 (in Russian).
  • Andrey Lunev. From an Individual to a Corporation: towards the Anthropomorphization of Corporations in International Law (in Russian).
  • Mikhail Galperin. The Obligation Not to Litigate in International and National Law (in Russian).
  • Nikita Sutormin. Collective Actions in the European Union: History of Development and Modern Regulation (in Russian).
  • Nils Schlüter. How to Make International Law More Effective: the Effectiveness of the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
  • Daria Ulanova. Causes of Action Behind Parent Companies’ Accountability for Human Rights Violations in National Courts.

The journal invites authors —researchers and practitioners —to submit materials.
