The Department of International Law has joined the project of the International and Comparative Law Research Center to compile a digest of Russian practice under International Law.
The project’s purpose is to select, systematize and place in a specially developed database legal acts, official statements, memorandums and other documents that can be considered as opinio jurisor which reveal Russia's position with regard to the interpretation of international treaty provisions. Currently, there is no such database in our country. Initially, the digest will be available to a limited number of individuals, but it is planned that anyone desiring will have access to in the future. The digest will be posted in the digital form at http://practice.iclrc.ru.
The digest will be useful for government authorities and officials, courts, international law researches, as well as for the media. State authorities and officials will have prompt access to systemized up-to-date information on Russia’s positions on various issues of international law and its implementation in our country. It is particularly useful to have such information and prompt access to it for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other federal executive bodies of the Russian Federation. Courts will be able to quickly familiarize themselves with the practice and opinio juris of Russia on relevant international legal issues.
