The School of International Law keeps pace with significant international events and legal adjudication in order to provide hands-on education that prepares future lawyers and legal scholars for the demands of the current legal landscape. This year, 12 teams participated in the Russian National Championship of the Jessup. In addition to coming as a Russian National Runner-Up, HSE has also received an award for excellence in writing a memorandum (3rd place). Team’s oralist—Victoria Polshakova—was the Best Oralist of the finals and entered top-4 of the Russian Best Oralists ranking.

Team’s coaches are: Matvey Tarasov (PhD Candidate of HSE Doctoral School of Law), Anastasia Burnakina (PhD Candidate of HSE Doctoral School of Law) and Alena Ilchenko (2nd year master’s).
The 2024 Jessup problem addresses traitors and crooks, and raises issues related to the right to political expression, statelessness, the right to a nationality, and the scope of the United Nations Security Council's authority in the pacific settlement of disputes.
