The Faculty of Law was one of the first faculties created in the Higher School of Economics. Economic and legal disciplines, new innovative courses, fundamental law disciplines and narrowly specialized courses are all equally important for the Faculty of Law. The Faculty's strength is the curriculum's focus on the practical, which perpares its graduates to successfully meet the demands of the labour market.
More than 100 teams all over the world have participated in FDI Moot this year including such well-known law schools as Harvard, Sorbonne and King's College London.
The HSE team was ranked among top-5 teams having left behind more than 100 teams and having prevailed over King’s College London (United Kingdom), University of International Business and Economics (China), University of Buenos Aires (Argentina), Hidayatullah National Law University (India) and Universitas Pelita Harapan (Indonesia).
Vera Bykova was mentioned as one of the top-7 oralists of the global rounds out of more than 300 participants.
The HSE Faculty of Law was represented by Vera Bykova (2nd year master’s student, 'International Private Law' programme), Marina Koleskina (1st year master’s student, 'International Private Law' programme), Irina Shchurova, Elena Murashko and Daria Zavershinskaia (1st year master’s students, 'Law of International Trade, Finance and Economic Integration' programme).
The team’s coaches: Dimitriy Mednikov (BGP Litigation), Anna Korshunova (Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners).
During the preparation for the global rounds in Stockholm, the team took part in several pre-moots in Budapest (Hungary) and Warsaw (Poland), where it managed to achieve excellent results, having become a runner-up of both pre-moots. Marina Koleskina was also mentioned as the best oralist of the Budapest pre-moot.
The team would like to express its gratitude to the HSE Faculty of Law, and its primary sponsor, which made all these achievements possible – Dentons Law Firm (with a special mention to the partner in Dentons' Moscow office and the Head of the European Intellectual Property and Technology practice – Denis Voevodin)!
The team’s appreciation for financial support also goes to Korelskiy, Ischuk, Astafiev & Partners, Attorneys at Law, Saveliev, Batanov & Partners law firm and Russian Arbitration Center at the Russian Institute of Modern Arbitration.
