HSE team has advanced to the quarterfinals of FDI

For the first time in the history of Higher School of Economics, the HSE Faculty of Law team has reached the quarterfinals rounds of the Foreign Direct Investment Moot Court (“FDI Moot”) 2018 in Stockholm, the most prestigious competition in the field of international investment arbitration.

More than 100 teams all over the world have participated in FDI Moot this year including such well-known law schools as Harvard, Sorbonne and King's College London.

The HSE team was ranked among top-5 teams having left behind more than 100 teams and having prevailed over King’s College London (United Kingdom), University of International Business and Economics (China), University of Buenos Aires (Argentina), Hidayatullah National Law University (India) and Universitas Pelita Harapan (Indonesia).

Vera Bykova was mentioned as one of the top-7 oralists of the global rounds out of more than 300 participants.

The HSE Faculty of Law was represented by Vera Bykova (2nd year master’s student, 'International Private Law' programme), Marina Koleskina (1st year master’s student, 'International Private Law' programme), Irina Shchurova, Elena Murashko and Daria Zavershinskaia (1st year master’s students, 'Law of International Trade, Finance and Economic Integration' programme).

The team’s coaches: Dimitriy Mednikov (BGP Litigation), Anna Korshunova (Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners).

During the preparation for the global rounds in Stockholm, the team took part in several pre-moots in Budapest (Hungary) and Warsaw (Poland), where it managed to achieve excellent results, having become a runner-up of both pre-moots. Marina Koleskina was also mentioned as the best oralist of the Budapest pre-moot.
