From July 27 to August 1, the Federal University of Minas Gerais hosted the BRICS Legal Studies Summer School in Belo Horizonte (Brazil). The event brought together professors, postgraduate students, and students from Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, the UAE, and other countries. The 2026 program focused on in-depth study of the founding BRICS states legal systems: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

Roman Abrashin, a first-year Master's student in the International Trade Law and Dispute Resolution programme at the HSE Faculty of Law, has won the 12th International Law in the 21st Century Award Competition with his paper "How Do International Human Rights Bodies Address Climate Change? Are There Limits to the 'Green' Interpretation of International Human Rights Treaties?"

From 9 to 12 June 2026, the 18th Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court, one of the oldest and most prestigious student competitions in the field of international investment law,  took place in Frankfurt am Main.

During the talks, the parties discussed potential avenues for developing scientific and educational cooperation in the field of law, student and faculty participation in academic mobility programmes, as well as prospects for representatives of the Moroccan university to enroll in continuing professional education programmes offered by the HSE Faculty of Law.

The HSE Faculty of Law and Hanoi Law University discussed scientific and educational cooperation, including the Vietnamese university’s potential membership in the BRICS Law Schools Consortium and participation in HSE’s professional education programmes. Both sides agreed to plan joint activities to develop the partnership.

HSE Students Visited the Hero City of Volgograd Ahead of Victory Day

April 23, 2026  – The Department of International Law at the HSE University Faculty of Law hosted an academic event that brought together representatives of government bodies, leading legal scholars, and experts from Russia and abroad.

On March 3, 2026, the HSE University Faculty of Law welcomed Professor Aziz Tuffi Saliba , Vice-Provost for International Relations at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil).

From 6 to 13 February 2026 the 49th international Jean-Pictet competition on international humanitarian law (IHL) was held in Dilijan, Armenia. A total of 48 teams participated in the full-time stage, representing Australia, Brazil, the United Kingdom, India, Mexico, the Netherlands, Singapore, the USA, France, Switzerland and twelve other countries.

On February 15, the HSE University Faculty of Law team secured first place at the Moscow Pre-Moot for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. The event featured 22 teams from Russia, China, Brazil, India, France, Kazakhstan, and other countries.
