Four HSE students were winners in a competition at the 5th international francophone conference for young academic researchers, Humanity and Climate: Sociological, Economic and Political Issues.

Law Students Should Realise That in the Future a Person’s Life Could Be in Their Hands

The finalists in the Model for an International Criminal Court competition have been announced at HSE. This game in the form of a trial is based on proceedings at the ICC in the Hague. In Russia the first two rounds of the competition are happening for the 4th time, for three years in a row they have been held at the HSE Faculty of Law.

Comparing Law Across the Globe

Law course helps build connections, dialogue with international students. In April HSE students from the Faculty of Law travelled to the USA to finish their work on joint research project. The website of the University of Iowa has published an article describing the visit.

Corporate Law and Worker Participation

On April 11, 2015, Jan Cremers (Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Labour Studies) gave a lecture on Corporate Law and Worker Participation at the HSE Faculty of Law. The event was organized by the HSE Department of Labour Law and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.

International Competition – Model European Court of Human Rights

In the 2014-2015 academic year HSE’s Faculty of Law team for the first time took part in the model European Court of Human Rights international competition, which is held by the European Association of Student Lawyers under the auspices of the Council of Europe.

On March 15-22, the 12th International Commercial Arbitration Competition: The Willem C. Vis (East) Commercial Arbitration Moot took place in Hong Kong – in which, for the first time ever, a team from HSE’s Faculty of Law took part.

Russian and American Students Research Legal Problems Together
On the 17th March 2015, 10 students from the University of Iowa, School of Law arrived in Moscow to take part in a research project with 2nd and 3rd year undergraduates at the HSE Faculty of Law. The aim of this international project is to compare legal interpretation of the same problems in Russia and the USA. In April, Russian students will go to America to finalize and present their joint projects.

Russian President Recognizes Work Done by Sergey Karaganov and Tamara Morshchakova

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an executive order on recognizing almost 200 Russians for their achievements in the workplace, many years of conscientious work, and active role taken in society. Those recognized included several members of the Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights, including Dean of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs Sergey Karaganov and Professor at the Faculty of Law Tamara Morshchakova.

HSE Law Students are through to the Final at Strasbourg

HSE students of the Faculty of Law have made it through to the final of the International European Moot Court Competition at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).

Kenneth Roth Spoke at the Faculty of Law

At the beginning of December 2014, Kenneth Roth, executive director of Human Rights Watch, visited the HSE Faculty of Law. Roth, former federal prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York and the Iran-Contra investigation in Washington DC, has worked at HRW since 1987. In his opening address, he told the students about the history of this institution and what it does, specifically focusing on several countries out of the 90 where HRW is currently operating.
