Anastasia Sudar and Livia Panina, second-year master’s students of the HSE Faculty of Law, have returned to Moscow after participating in the One Belt and Road Student Forum. ‘The forum, which was held on December 4-7 in Beijing, was so full of various events, and we were so immersed in an entirely new culture, that when we came back we felt as if we had spent two weeks there.’
On February 7, 2016, the national finals of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, one of the world’s most prestigious law competitions for students, took place in Moscow. The HSE Faculty of Law team took first place.
April 17 saw the Law Faculty’s first Mock Trial – a simplified game version of the US legal process. The HSE Law Faculty team faced off an opposing team from Georgetown University (Washington, US) via video-linkup. A representative of the US from the American University also acted as an impartial judge.
The winning team included students from the Jurisprudence programme in HSE's Faculty of Law: Yury Varlamov, Alina Gegamova, and Olga Kiseleva. The annual Martens International Humanitarian Law Competition is organised by the International Committee of the Red Cross with the support of the Russian Association of International Law.
