On the 10^th of December 2021, the HSE Faculty of Law convened the International conference in memory of Professor Igor Lukashuk ‘Politics of Sanctions in International Relations: Between Rule of Law and Соercion’.

Last year, the Institute for Law in the Digital Environment was founded as part of HSE University. Ruslan Ibragimov, HSE Director for Legal Research, spoke to the HSE News Service about the research carried out by the new institute, some of the outcomes of its work, plans for the future, and the legal challenges surrounding the use of artificial intelligence.

The project team ‘Regulatory framework to prevent remote work-related psychosocial risks’ of the HSE University Faculty of Law has held an interdisciplinary online workshop to discuss the possible psychosocial risks faced by telecommuters. Participants learned more about the preliminary results of a survey conducted among Russians in summer 2021. In addition, guest experts from French and German universities spoke about EU countries’ experiences in preventing psychosocial risks.

The annual HSE Student Research Paper Competition (SRPC) helps young researchers try their hand in a real academic competition, where leading experts and professionals from HSE University assess their research papers. This year, participation will be open from September 1 to October 15.

Today, we need a coordinated agenda in order to understand how to develop a comfortable and safe technological environment and make the consequences of rapid technological development forecastable and manageable. This is what HSE Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov said at the National Academic Online Conference ‘Ethical and Legal Issues of Digital Transformation: From Conflict to Harmony?’

HSE’s Faculty of Law  is a partner of the Fulbright Scholar Programme and each year has the opportunity to host a Distinguished Chair in Sustainable Development. David Wirth, a Professor who teaches and supervises research at Boston College Law School, arrived at HSE in this capacity in September 2016 and spent the past academic year in Moscow. He has talked to HSE News Service about his impressions.

On April 10-11, 2017 the Russian-Finnish conference for doctoral students ‘Current Legal Scholarship in Russia and Finland’ was held at HSE Faculty of Law. Doctoral students and professors from HSE and the University of Helsinki took part in the event.

On April 7, 2017, Jan De Groof, Professor at the College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium) and Tilburg University (the Netherlands), delivered a lecture on ‘Contemporary and Future Challenges of Education Law and Education Rights, Especially for Russia’. The event was organized by the HSE Institute of Education and the Faculty of Law.
