Mock Trial: HSE vs Georgetown University

April 17 saw the Law Faculty’s first Mock Trial – a simplified game version of the US legal process. The HSE Law Faculty team faced off an opposing team from Georgetown University (Washington, US) via video-linkup. A representative of the US from the American University also acted as an impartial judge. 

HSE Students Win International Humanitarian Law Competition

The winning team included students from the Jurisprudence programme in HSE's Faculty of Law: Yury Varlamov, Alina Gegamova, and Olga Kiseleva. The annual Martens International Humanitarian Law Competition is organised by the International Committee of the Red Cross with the support of the Russian Association of International Law.

Law Students Should Realise That in the Future a Person’s Life Could Be in Their Hands

The finalists in the Model for an International Criminal Court competition have been announced at HSE. This game in the form of a trial is based on proceedings at the ICC in the Hague. In Russia the first two rounds of the competition are happening for the 4th time, for three years in a row they have been held at the HSE Faculty of Law.

Comparing Law Across the Globe

Law course helps build connections, dialogue with international students. In April HSE students from the Faculty of Law travelled to the USA to finish their work on joint research project. The website of the University of Iowa has published an article describing the visit.

Russian and American Students Research Legal Problems Together
On the 17th March 2015, 10 students from the University of Iowa, School of Law arrived in Moscow to take part in a research project with 2nd and 3rd year undergraduates at the HSE Faculty of Law. The aim of this international project is to compare legal interpretation of the same problems in Russia and the USA. In April, Russian students will go to America to finalize and present their joint projects.
